Emmys 2012 Style Trends

Modern glamour: That’s how Emmy Award-winning stylist David Zyla would sum up 2012 Emmy Awards fashion. “I think everyone kind of got the memo,” Zyla told CBSNews.com. “Overall, I saw a very modern approach. It felt very chic… Everything was very beautiful and very elegant.” (CBS News)

We here at MissesDressy.com agree to that. Our favorite TV superstars must have unanimously decided to give us fashion watchers a delightfully satisfying red carpet parade. They didn’t disappoint, for they all came in style perfection. Here are a few of the wonderful trends we spotted that lovely night.

All Things Bright And Beautiful was a surprising common thread. Compared to the usually wacky VMA red carpet, this year’s Emmys surpassed the boldness — in terms of colors. Pantone’s Tangerine Tango and our own Yellow Belle were a few of the favorite color splash on the red carpet.

Jewel Tones also didn’t fail to add to the glamour. We’re proud to say that as we posted, Sapphire, Turquoise, and Emerald were celebrity favorites.

Red is a classic, well, red carpet color. But at this year’s Emmy they were in the fresh and modern shades of Cranberry, Ox Blood, and Plum.

All Things Delicate, whether in color or texture, were a big hit as well. Soft hues like beige and gray, and soft fabrics like chiffon and tulle made the ladies look so ethereal and enchanting.

Armor and Shimmers are at the opposite side of the spectrum compared to the delicate trend. But if done properly, these styles will surely make one stand-out on the red carpet.

Prints also joined the parade. These chic takes on prints wowed us as well.

Elemental Accents like brocades and sparkles are lovely statements. The red carpet welcomes these kinds of surprises.

Black and White if properly styled wouldn’t fail to wow. To quote an expert, ”A lot of people think that black [and white] is boring or safe, but I think this year it was anything but that,” said Zyla. “The play of sheer and solid, origami folds and asymmetrical hemlines – it was exciting to see that.

We don’t know when we’ll get over these fantastic styles. We specifically love Tina Fey’s hot look! The color and shape of her dress fit her to a T. And her minimalist styling even more made her look so smashing.

Share with us your thoughts as to your favorites, too. MissesDressy.com would be so happy to hear from you.
