After viewing the Thomsen Paris Autumn/Winter 2012/13 lookbook I could only muster up one word: smart. Sure the school girlish skirt and button-up combo can read brainy uniform or even the blazer and denim pairing could be a cool professor outfit, but overall the assortment of polka-dot infused, minimalist ensembles give off a subliminal intelligence. Oozing polished edge created with clean lines and silhouettes, the Thomsen collection makes it easy to achieve a certain level of fashion sense without having to try very hard. In essence it was made for the throng of young and informed people that could easily schmooze with the stiff-collared uptown crowd, but have bigger fish to fry. After all there must be a notepad and tape recorder tucked under that plaid trench or an indie concert to attend in the navy lace-back top and trousers. Or even a downtown acquaintances gathering to fall into sporting the printed pant one piece (a personal favorite and near necessity for fall). Chocked full of versatile separates, blues and reds and clogs (yes, clogs!), the Thomsen girl is active and involved with keen fashion know-how. Not to mention the scene set for this inevitably up and coming power group, who are perhaps health enthusiasts to boot. Anyone standing on a wooden crate or fold up chair in front of seasonal fruit has an agenda– something radically progressive, we imagine.
